Domaine Arlaud's story began several generations ago with a wedding gift - parcels of land in the Côtes de Nuits - for Joseph Arlaud and Renée Amiot, who came from a well-known Burgundian family. With Joseph's grandson Cyprien at the helm, Arlaud converted to using biodynamic techniques in the vineyards. Taking further steps to restore health to the soil, Arlaud began using horses to plough his vineyards rather than the more common use of tractors, granting a clearer path for terroir in these classic Burgundian wines.
Oka, picturing one of the iconic plough horses, is a classic pinot noir with minimal intervention. Made from 40 year old vines, this bottle uses fruit from several parcels including Morey St Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and Côtes de Nuits. Aged in 6-7 year old barrrels, Oka is unfined and unfiltered with minimal use of SO2.
